Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update* I regret to inform you that we just learned that Shady Oak Beach will be closed for the entire summer (per City of Mtka order), and we will NOT be able to hold the triathlon (nor the open water swim) this year. Having strong interest, we had every intention to still offer the event(s), even if it meant limiting the number of participants, having just 2 bikes per rack, forgoing finisher medals, or even asking participants to bring their own nutrition. Right now, these options are obviously moot. Knowing that we fully expect to be back in 2021, and that the majority of those already registered are "regulars", we are automatically deferring all race entries to next year. (Note: if you are unable to participate next year, we can transfer the entry to a person of your choice). By issuing a deferral, you will avoid a processing fee from the registration company for next year, and let us pay for some of the non-refundable costs we have already incurred for the event so we can be financially viable going forward (Note: we receive NO salaries from the HoRT; we donate all of the proceeds). And in the outside chance the City of Minnetonka changes their position on the beach, we can quickly and confidently get the wheels moving yet this year (You never know!)
Thank you for your understanding, and we hope that our next event (Sept 4th, 2021) will indeed be lucky #7! Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update*Covid-19 update*
Come be a part of the Hopkins Royal Triathlon held at beautiful Shady Oak Beach, on the border of Hopkins/Minnetonka, MN. Compete in a traditional sprint distance, or for those newer to the sport or who have limitations, try our shorter mini-sprint option, where you choose either the longer or shorter distances. Either way, you'll be treated like royalty!
Sprint distance($60) 750 yard swim (sandy beach, clean deep water w/ no boats) 13 mile bike ride (triple loop, w/ some hills) 5K run (fast and mostly on a flat shaded trail)
Mini-sprintdistance($45) 100 yard swim (face it, either you can swim or you can't) 4.5 mile bike ride (shorter and flatter, enough said) 1.75 mile run (bad knees? You can crawl this if need be)
Why try this TRI?
The race courses are awesome! Challenging for the "experienced", but easily doable for all.
The awards & prizes are even better- bottle "trophies" (top 3 in every 5 year age group), functional finisher medals, and door prizes (including a catered meal for 10)
Great location-just 10 miles west of Mpls, nearby hotels, and wonderful views for spectators.
Enjoy a post race meal for everyone- No need to sneak food for your fans. They're invited too!
We offer a mini-sprint option where you get to pick the distances-You read it correctly! Do the minimum 100 yard swim-4.5 mile bike-1.75 mile run, or try some of the longer distances. Some call it a "glorified kids triathlon". We call it an opportunity for everyone to be able to TRI! Think of it as a multi-sport "buffet", where you get to decide how much you want to "put on your plate" come race day. *Click here for more info.
We are the "unofficial" MN Clydesdales & AthenasState Championship event*Click here for more info.

Proceeds go to charity: $50,000+ in our first 6 years to the local rec dept, community ed and the youth groups that volunteer at the event.
